Hi alted champions! There are some cool conferences coming up!
In October, I will be at NAEA, the National Alternative Education Association Conference, as I will be running for Region 8 Board, Representing Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Hawaii, and the Pacific Islands. The vote is in person, so with me luck! I hope to share the connections and research I have made, blogging and posting about Alternative Ed for the past 12 years with those nationwide. If you are looking for a larger network of alternative educators, NAEA is a great organization. There are many state organizations that you can connect to if you are close by.

On Instagram, I am posting about Continuation Schools the month of September. October will be about Alternative Schools and Dropout Prevention since October is National Dropout Prevention Month.

Books
I got to preview a colleague’s, Dr. Milisav Ilic's book for Continuation School leaders! I am excited to share his work and share this resource with all Continuation School leaders. Continuation schools are pretty unique to California. Washington State and Oregon have a few. However, they are getting phased out and rebranded alternative schools. But the CA ed code does have important specifications for continuation schools, and the book fills that huge need. If you are in need of a consultant, he is your guy.
